Oh hey, look, some of my classmates!
Here is the final version of my last sketch project for Andreas’ drawing class. I’ve not named this piece yet, I’m still bouncing around some ideas.
Okay! So here’s what I’ve been working on as of late! This my latest and last sketch project for Drawing Fundamentals.
I wanted to make a lion. Lions have been showing up in my work an aweful lot as of late. This lion needed to be gripping, though. I wanted a fierce, piercing gaze to jump out and arrest you this time. So, you’ll see that my original drawing wasn’t quite capturing this effect. It was safe and controlled and smooth—quite the opposite of what I wanted.
So I started over. This time I went off of memory. I brushed inkwash onto that printmaking paper like there was no tomorrow. Next thing you know, there’s this legit lion coming alive.
I accidentally erased the pictures I had of the two lions side by side, otherwise I would have put that up too. But these aren’t finished yet, so I’ll be posting more pics later on!
So many ideas!
I’ve been busy with the end of this semester as of late, so there have been a sad lacking of new pieces to post. Terribly sorry about that! But I’m planning on photographing some of my work this weekend. We’ll see how they turn out. I’ve been doing some magical things that involve lions! Stay tuned for that….and also I’ve got some HUGE printmaking paper that I have lovely ideas for. Before, the craziest I would get was always 18X24” but this is big. The lion is big. Just stay tuned!
Just makin’ stamps! Stampin right up!!!
I guess I could probably post some of my photography on here, huh? Here’s a tree study.
